Hole family of Canterbury

Looking for descendants of William Henry and Elizabeth Reid, lived at Hoon Hay Road, Halswell, buried at St Marys, Halswell. They had 15 children. Elizabeth died in 1949 aged 104 yrs, William died 1915.

Children names, Richard William  1864, Elizabeth Maud 1865, Robert Harry  1867,James Henry or Henry
James 1868, Walter 1870, Arthur 1874, Julia 1875, Frank Thomas 1877, George 1880, Thomas 1882 died 1883,Edith 1884, Herbert Stanley 1889, Edwin 1907. There is one/two missing which I cant find.

Hi pcjr,
William Henry Hole married Eliza Reid in 1863. Another one of their children is possibly the Charles Hole whose birth was registered in 1934 as per the BDM website. This may well be the Charles Hole who died in 1951 aged 74 giving him a birth year of about 1877. Occasionally births were registered many years after the event. As this post potentially concerns living relatives I have sent you a PM.

This birth was registered as 02 Apr 1872. The folio number is shown as “354 Ext Act ’06)”, suggesting the 1906 (Registration of Births Extension) Act may explain why it is shown as registered in 1907.

1934/21663 Hole Charles Eliza William Henry
This birth was registered as 19 Feb 1879. The folio number is shown as “899/1924 Act”, suggesting the 1924 (Births and Deaths Registration) Act may explain why it is shown as registered in 1934.

One of the children you are "missing" was Ethel Emily HOLE - born 1886.   

She was mentioned (under her married name) in the newspaper article celebrating her Mother's 100th birthday.

Hi   ... just ignore what I said (above) about name perhaps being "Cullimore".   

On checking some further indexes / electoral rolls etc.  ... 

" C u l l m o r e "  appears to be the correct spelling ( -- though "Culmer and Culmore" also popped up).

Good find, Lu. 

Ethel Emily's birth is clearly shown on birth microfiche, 1886 in Christchurch.

I have advised BDM, and hopefully they will check why it is not on database within next few days.
