Researching Armagh Brothers can any one help?

Armagh Gazette 15 May 1915

Brothers who have joined Lord Kitcheners Army

David Edwards, late of the Provincial Bank Newry and now of the 10th Bn Black Watch and is at present in Bristol. He will be shortly leaving for France there to take his part in the firing line.

Charles Edward of 4 Victoria Street Armagh. A very popular and well known figure in our city, He is attached to the Army Service Corps of the 9TH Bn Royal Irish Fusiliers at present stationed in Newtownards. We wish both brothers all sorts of success and are sure that they will be a credit to our city.
Many thanks
Joe

Joe,
I can find four brothers, possibly five, who attended The Royal School Armagh. Their father was George Archer Edwards ( in one case it was George Arthur Edwards with a different address) It is not clear what you are looking for - is it their births or their service records?

If you are going to be doing so much research in Armagh you'll need to become familiar with the resources available- have a look at ARMAGH RESOURCES at the top of this board and the IRELAND RESOURCES section.

"Probate of the Will of George Archer Edwards late of Prospect House Armagh County Armagh Merchant who died 3 May 1899 granted at Armagh to Jane Edwards Widow and Joseph Edwards and Thomas S. Edwards Merchants all of Armagh." see www.proni.gov.uk to read copy of Will.
A search with Edwards as surname and Armagh in full abstract box brings up other possibilites including this-
"Administration of the Estate of Jane Edwards late of Woodford Armagh Widow who died 8 August 1910 granted at Armagh to Thomas Sinton Edwards Coal and Timber Merchant."

Thanks aghadowey
I have looked at the headings you suggested but have found them difficult to use.

Not sure why you find the headings difficult as they are broken down into various subects (church records, directories, etc.) but suspect you need to sit down and loook through the RESOURCES again when you have time to concentrate on all the information in the postings. Many of the questions you've asked can be answered (or at least partially answered) by checking online sources (census records, civil registration index, PRONI Will Extracts, etc.).

Hi,
Had a quick look at some pages of Charles Griffith Edwards service record. He appears to have been attached to the 9th Royal Irish Fusiliers as a corporal motor engineer. He was discharged in Feb 1919 and as well as the usual medals he was awarded the Belgian Croix De Guerre which wa gazetted on the 4 Sept 1919. The pages are in poor condition and some are in duplicate or triplicate
