hi i am trying to see if we have family in souyh africa the reason why is after talking with my unclle today its seems he use to be sent gifts from there when he was young ,the only connection if any is as i can tell through my gradmother her brother is charles willmore born 1922 middlesbrough he was in the air force and i am lead to beleive he was posted out there so i wonder if he left siblings out there is there any way to find out any info please thanks dave

Hi there,
Sorry that I am only seeing this so many years after you posted it. There are quite a few Willmores in South Africa who mostly belong to the branch of John Willmore (b 1687)through Benjamin Willmore (1774  at Flitton w Silsoe, Bedfordshire) and Sarah Howson (b 1778). One of Benjamin's sons, Gregory, came to South Africa in about 1827, after having fought in the Battle of the Nile under Lord Nelson.
