Thats interesting that you found Lizzi as a widow.  I know she died in 1891, so did Athol and also albert.  Strange that they all died the same year.  So i will have to have a look and see if i can find a william berners who died before she did.  Also not sure still if they ever married. Thanks for the help

On line tree's are giving him as William T Berners who it would seems to have left his family and is living in and around Mayfair as a retired East India Co.Merch. living to an old age and dying in 1930  Hanover Sq aged 93?

thanks for your reply, its just trying to confirm which william was the father.  Probably need to find a marriage certifcate to finally prove it, or did they never get married.  There are a few other william berners that where married, could it be one of them? Who ever it was Lizzi died with no money. Two of the william berners are cousins, lizzies dad was a brewer and one of the berners had something to do with a berners and kemp brewery i think.  thanks for the help

I remain to be convinced of the William Thomas Berners connection - he does claim in later years to be a widower, but is not obviously to be found before 1901 census and 1890 electoral registers. his family connections are naval and landed gentry - he also is referred to in the Calcutta Gazette (quoted in the London Gazette)  carrying on a business in 1867. Do wonder if he was overseas and happens to reappear at a similar time
