Cefn Mawr - Hughes
« on: Saturday 25 February 12 21:05 GMT (UK) »
I have a William Henry HUGHES b.1865 married to Mary Elizabeth JONES b.1872 in 1893 at St Mary's Ruabon.
In 1901 they reside at Maelor Terrace, Acrefair, Cefn with children Florence b 1894, Thomas b 1894 and Edith (my grandmother) born 1899.
In 1911 they reside at Russell St., Cefn. but the census shows that they had five children, two having died. No one in the family knows anything about these children who died. Please where would I start looking??

Unfortunately, Hughes is far from uncommon in Denbighshire!

You need to look at all the Hughes births in Wrexham registration district, Ruabon sub-district (www.northwalesbmd.org.uk) and correlate this with all deaths in the same district under (say) 5.

Not an easy job!

William signed up with the Royal Welsh Fus. in January 1900. I had thought he may have been away at Boer War??
Thanks for the response and the link. I knew it was going to be a bit of a nightmare but would like to find out about the children.
