Name of Ship?
« on: Sunday 26 February 12 01:29 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

Just wondering if anyone can help with the name of the ship in this record?  Ralph Glasgow was a Merchant Seaman in 1854.  I thought it read 'Peru Belfon' but can't find any record for this.

Thanks in advance,
Andrea

I think the second word might be Belfast but I can't make out what the other word is as the picture pixelates too much when I enlarge it, although it looks a bit like pecan!

I've found the record that you have and now that I can see it clearer I'm pretty sure the word is Belfast and that you are right with Peru.

Peru might be the name of the ship and Belfast were it was based or registered

Thanks very much...I think you are right!  I tried to enlarge the text so that the ship name was easier to read but I couldn't work it out!  Will have a look for ship Peru!
