No, not sure where they got married. I have them on the 1881 English census in the Anglesea Barracks in Portsea, hampshire, England. Edward, their eldest child was 1yr old.

I agree with shanew147 that a birth cert is where to start for documented proof

Edward's birth in the UK records has a best match of
Colchester Essex Oct-Dec 1879 Volume 4A Page 382

Also there are two marriages of a John BYRNE in 1879 in Portsea that may be correct to follow up on
If one was correct it should have Mary's father's name
Kearney & Bourke/ Johns & Fox/ Mannion & Finan/ Donohoe & Curley
Byrne [Carthy], Keeffe/ Germaine, Butler/ McDermott, Giblin/ Lally, Dolan
Toole, Doran; Dowling, Grogan/ Reilly, Burke; Warren, Kidd [Lawless]/ Smith, Scally; Mangan, Rodgers/ Fahy, Calday; Staunton, Miller
Further generations:
Brophy Coleman Eathorn(e) Fahy Fitzpatrick Geraghty Haverty Keane Keogh Nowlan Rowe Walder

Where do I find those marriage records to look at? Quite sure that Mary's father is John Johnston.

This is William's family in 1901 http://www.rootschat.com/links/0kkx/
note that he is only 30 on original as 50 and aged to 68 by 1911!!!
He possibly aged to gain a pension
It implies he was born anywhere between 1843 and 1871 1851 which makes him quite difficult to find

Mary states three ages between 1881 and 1911 which implies she was born between 1850 and 1854 which is a more manageable search

As William is in Castletown as a farmer in both 1901 and 1911 this could well be the original family home; on Griffiths Valuation there is a John Johnston with lands in Castletown which could tie in

This means that the best parish to start a baptism search in is either CASTLETOWN or BIRR which was formerly known as PARSONSTOWN

As Mary describes herself as Church of England and William as Methodist you may need to look at both but I would start with Methodist records for more information on this family

Always check the scanned image- in 1901 William's age is actually 50 but has been mis-transcribed as 30-
