Fowke, Cyril and Leslie
« on: Saturday 03 March 12 17:08 GMT (UK) »
I'm looking for any information on these two: Cyril Fowke (b. 1903) and Leslie Fowke (b. 1906, Deseronto, Hastings, Ontario, Canada).  Their parents were Henry Fowke and Ellen Elizabeth Howe.

To date I have that they had an older sister: May.  Cyril died in 1980, and Leslie died in 1971 in Orange, California, USA.  They seem to have been quite musical/ artistic with Violin, Piano and eventually becoming 'Vaudeville Artists'.

Where did they go from there?

I don't need on-line Census information from search-sites though, because I have access to several and believe I have found all possible: Census, Emigration (to Canada), and Border Crossings (Canada-USA).

I also have a family photo album and believe several photos are from the Fowke family in Canada.  I would like to find a source who can confirm this, and even possibly identify some.

I have some further data about the connections of Cyril and Leslie Fowke in my own database, although I do not have them connected directly to my own Tree. Contact me at  *  as the information is a little lengthy to type out here. We may be able to exchange even further information as I do also have a sizable Tree, together with a database and associated images, of Fowke individuals in Canada.

You did forget to mention that Cyril was born as Cyril Henry Fowke in England and died in Phoenix,Maricopa County, Arizona also that his brother's full name was Leslie John Fowke
An April 24, 1925 newspaper account has Leslie performing in Middletown, New York as Fowkes and Fowks
"Boy Musical Wizard!" so he was already touring at 19. He danced, sang and played multiple instruments cornet, piano, sax......and was the star of the entire show. Further reading finds his brother listed as Cyril Henry and no last name at all!!! who also plays many instruments...cornet, violin, sax...
Because they were performers you may want to sign up and do some searches on the site...It mean searching hard, though as you see howthe name was changed and then omitted entirely by the media...happened often...
I see another review in 1922 Fort Wayne, Indiana so he was touring at 16...and the hit of the stage then as well ...The touring act seems to be called the Tom Brown's Big Musical Revue / then Tom Brown Musical Revue, so look for it to change names frequently
www.newspaperarchive.com

Tom Brown Musical Revue was only seven or eight performers prior to the fellows coming on...& here they are billed all gals ( PEACHY girls) except for Tom  http://www.rootschat.com/links/0ktw/

The border history show Cyril moving  between Canada/U.S. 1920 & 1925  ( 3 times in 1921)
http://www.rootschat.com/links/0kty/  Leslie only shows once in 1921 and once in 1922

It is now 10 years since I posted a note regarding Cyril and Leslie Fowke. I can't believe that it is that long since I posted here! Anyway, I have since traced and connected these two Fowke individuals to my Family tree, along with many other Fowke families of that era. Contact me if you want further information a
