Did you know Someone else has mention John on on the Rootsweb website in 2010. I had a quick search on the net tonight but named the father as James Yourston - I'll keep looking for John - but you mention a court case involving Yourston - although he was known as John Aithcison have you searched under John Yourston its just a hunch that he may have been legitamised by his father or the court therefore could be official registered as Yourston

worth a try.

Hey Terrianne,

Hope you are well? I know you are busy, but did you have any luck looking for the Death of John Aitchison born 1867 Brierryhill , Duns?

I have most things about him, but cant find his Death?
He lived in Ayton, Berwickshire. Therefore, if he became ill
it would have been closer to take him to Berwick Hospital,
rather than Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.

Aye yours

not necessarily depends on what he died of he could have died at a local Cottage Hospital or Sanatorium (especially if he had TB), also he may not have a headstone, because of the cost and may only have a lair marker - I'll keep looking around the Ayton, Duns, Edrom, Eyemouth, Coldingham areas - I did find his mother &  family in Coldingham in 1851. As for the finding out the Lair Books it might be good idea the contact Scottish Borders Council Burial Services department, but that doesn't explain why we can't find his death, but also try Edinburgh (in think St Giles) for the royal Infirmary, Berwick may be an opinion but knowing how the local health authority worked could be unlikely.

By the way I did find his marriage cert  in Fogo to Janet

It doesn't help at all but I have never been able to find my husband's ancestor who died around the same time as yours in the Ayton area.  I have her husband's death in 1902 but have tried everything to find his wife but to no avail.  Just wondering if a page is missing or something in the Ayton deaths and didn't get registered properly.

Frustrating!
Barbara

Scottish Borders Council checked their records 2 years ago.
The Girl was helpful but, the records were incomplete.
I was looking for my Great Grandfather TG Aitchison
who was interred at Attn in 1949. I suspect his wife,
motherinlaw, and father-in law are all in the same plot.
My Father remembers getting to watch the hearse leave for
Attn.

John Aitchison would be my Grandfathers Cousin. He would have
lived closebye. Since my Grandfather was at Attn Law in the 1920-30's.
John Aitchison was at Whitefield Ayton in 1901 & 1911.

He has died betwixt 1911 & 1928. He is noted as deceased on his son's marriage Certificates in 1928.

Hey thanks folks for helping out I appreciate it.
