can u help? pls
« on: Friday 25 June 04 11:39 BST (UK) »
I have got a lot of information about my ancestors, but i dont know what is relevant to a search (or could help my search), or where to get information.
My great grandfather was born 1899, but i dont think I can get census record for that year yet?!? I know his parents surname was Beynon, lived in Laugharne, had 3 other sons.
Where do I go from here??

If anyone can advise me I would be very grateful

Many thanks
Rachelwilliams
I would be very interested to hear from any  BEYNONs (Laugharne), Evans (Brynamman), Killa, Goffs/gouchs, Stokes

Hi Rachel. As your gtgrandfather was born in 1899 you should be able to find him in the 1901 census at http://www.1901census.nationalarchives.gov.uk/
This site can be index searched for free but when you find the name you want you have to pay to see everyone else in that family. Still, if it gives his parents and perhaps older siblings it is worth it. If you live in Wales you may be able to get this info for free at a library.

Also you could find the reference for his birth and order his birth certificate and that would also give you his parents names and father's occupation. Try http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl as a starting point though they don't have all the entries on there yet.

If you get the 1901 census details then you can perhaps find his father on the 1881 census at http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp?PAGE=igi/search_IGI.asp&clear_form=true

From the date of birth of the first child to your gtgtgrandparents you can try and find a marriage date for your gtgtgrandparents and then you will be well on your way! Have fun!
