It looks as if an Englishman from Suffolk named John Bowyer, born 1898, travelled to the USA c.1926 to work as a Butler, he appears in New York on the 1940 Census with wife Mary and apparently died there 1956/57.  I wonder if this is the same chap ?

He looks like a good possible AncestryPete.

The Censuses can be found on Familysearch.Org in the 1930 one he married in England and their first child was born there also 1923.

Unfortunately no image for the Death Cert but it has his death as Brightwaters, Islip, Suffolk, New York. :-\


FreeBMD has a possible Marriage in Staffs 1921 to a Mary FINNEY and a Birth Reg for a Mary Bowyer 1922, Mothers mn Finney.
Checked 1923-1931 no other births with same Mothers mn.

Looking around I am not so sure as there are a couple of John Bowyers around and the one above may be John Alfred Bowyer.
