history The Manse, Ann Street, Stonehaven?
« on: Saturday 10 March 12 23:54 GMT (UK) »
Can anyone tell me more about ANN STREET MANSE in Stonehaven, parish of Fetteresso, please?
I can see  on the 1871 census that the Rev Thomas Scott and family lived there, and they had a servant and a housekeeper. But there were also an assortment of other people at this same address who seem to have employment elsewhere. Why did they live there? Perhaps charitable?  Of what denomination?  Was the Manse also involved in education? Does anyone have a photo please?
Thank you...

I can't answer all your questions, but that would have been the manse of what was originally the Free Church, but  by that date was United Presbyterian.
You can see the former church and manse on Google Street view (32 Ann St)
at the corner of Ann St & Mary St.
