a possible marriage for Michael and Mary ?

  Quarter / Year : Jun 1893
  Registration District :  Dudley
  Volume : 6c
  Page : 175
  Mary Finnigan
  Michael Gartland
  William Punter
  Alice Maude Wolverson

Dudley registration district covers parts of Staffordshire and Worcestershire. Not that close to Cumberland, but maybe they moved after they married ?

Shane

FreeBMD - if you search for Michael Gartland marriages in 1893, that the only one that comes up. Click on the page number to see the 4 names on the same page, including Mary

the names are too right not to be them, its the dudley part that throws me tho,

mary was born 1973-4 in balbriggan ireland, micheal born flimby cumberland 1874, i  thought mary possibly moved here to maryport with her family from ireland and met micheal here, im having trouble finding marys family on census's too

Ellen's year of birth fits with that  possible marriage very well...

What was Michael's occupation ?
Could that have been a possible reason for him to have moved to Dudley..
