Looks promising, but what a high mortality rate. Catherine named one of her children Esther probably after her sister.
Catherine's nephew Thomas b1871 must have been the child of her brother Robert the only surviving male.

Thomas married Elizabeth Ann Quirk 1896 Barrow-in-Furness.

Elizabeth's family farmed at Lambfell Beg 1881 Census when head of family was Elizabeth widow . I need to find her husband .

On the 1881 census for Elizabeth Quirk I see that there are William b.1846, German. Richard b.1853. Ellenor b.1859 and Jane b.1866. With this information available I have found the following baptisms -

Eleanor Quirk Kelly
Christening date: 14 Feb 1858
German, Isle of Man
father: Robert Quirk
mother: Elizabeth Kelly

Jane Quirk
Christening date: 15 Jul 1866
German, Isle of Man
father: Robert Quirk
mother: Elizabeth Kelly

Richard Quirk
Christening date: 20 Jun 1852
German, Isle of Man
father:Robert Quirk
mother:Elizabeth Kelly

Therefore it looks as if Elizabeth's husband was Robert Quirk - just need to find his death now.

Hi,

Do you have access to the Virtual Library through a local library card?

If so there is an article of a Robert Quirk of Lambfell that would help in your research -

The newspaper article is in - The Isle of Man Times and General Advertiser (Douglas, England), Saturday, August 24, 1872

I'm not sure about the Virtual Library, is it a facility that most libraries have?

Most libraries I know of have the Virtual Library. It's a facility that can be accessed on the home pc or within the library as long as you have the correct library card.

I have found it to be a most useful tool when researching 'rellies'.

If you are not able to gain access to the article and would like the details then just ask and I'll pm them to you.
