John Jones (gardner) - Henllan Denbighshire
« on: Monday 12 March 12 19:14 GMT (UK) »
Hello to all my (hopefully) new genealogy friends/family.

I am attempting to research probably one of the hardest names to research- John Jones in Wales!  Here is what I do know:

1871 Census (Denbighshire)
John Jones  - age 32  gardner   b. Henllan Denbighshire
Sarah (wife)- age 31                  b. Eltham England
Elizabeth   age 4
Edward/win  age 2

1881 Census (Denbighshire)
John Jones   age 42
Mary (wife)          35                    b. Ysceifiog
Elizabeth             14
Edward H.           12
John Thomas                                b. Llanrhaiadr

*Wife Sarah must have died between census years, and John took a 2nd wife to be mother to his children.
*Wife Mary must have died between 1885-1891 because she is not listed on the 1891 census, and by 1911 John has a 3rd wife, Catherine.

John Thomas is my husband's direct lineage, and we are attempting to find the father of John JONES b. 1838 in Henllan.  I attempted to go back to the 1861 and prior census - but having very little experience in researching outside the USA, I'm hesitant to determine his parentage.  I am hoping that someone on this site can give some guidance and aid to a newbie to Welsh research.

William,

Thanks for the heads up.  What I am really trying desperately to locate is information on second wife, Mary (her maiden name and parents) and John's parentage right now.

I know Mary died sometime between the time Owen was born in 1885 and the 1891 census, but where ??? is unknown - however it has to be around the Denbighshire area because in 1891 the family is still there.   The first child to this marriage (J.Thomas Jones) is Feb. 1880 in Llanrhaeadr (according to the 1881 census) - so the marriage is (I would hope) at least 1 year previous or earlier.
