marriage of David STEPHEN and xxx BEATTIE?

Help needed please to discover DAVID STEPHEN and his spouse xxx BEATTIE
Cannot find any record of them, except the death certificate of their son:

JOHN STEPHEN retired farmer died 1901 at Upper Coullie, Fordoun age 83. 
Father David Stephen, mother ......BEATTIE
Censuses suggest JOHN STEPHEN was born 1818 Benholm.
Date would seem correct as the death cert reads age 83.

John's wife was Margaret MILNE b abt 1817 Kinneff, died 1897 Upper Coullie, Fordoun.
Her mother was Margaret JOLLY whose 1st husband was James BISSET I believe.

Prior to his marriage in 1840, John Stephen was living at Ferneyflatt,
Kinneff and Catterline, and Margaret Milne at West Town.

A search of SP 1790 to 1854 gives 2 pages of births for to David Stephen and a wife in Kincardine - none with the surname Beattie.  It take it you've downloaded the death entry for John?

Cannot find the death of a female Stephen - other name Beattie - afetr 1855.
Cannot see a will on SP which would fit for David Beattie.

The data I provided was from John's death certificate
JOHN STEPHEN retired farmer died 1901 at Upper Coullie, Fordoun age 83.  Father David Stephen, mother ......BEATTIE
Attaching the death cert section showing John's parents.
Alas there are no references to them in his Testament.
So I'm still looking for the birth or baptism of John Stephen abt 1818
to father David Stephen and mother (given name...? ) MS Beattie.
