Hi Laura, we appear to be related. John Patrick McAteer was my grandfather, Ronald McAteer’s, grandfather. Did you end up finding any new information? I just started looking into genealogy. I’m curious if you found any information about Bernard McAteer’s parents? I’m wondering if he went by an alternate spelling of his surname

I am not sure what happened to siblings ...................... Bridget (b. 1877) and Susan (b. 1877).
I believe Bridget and Susan were twins.

Bridget and Susan appear to have died not long after birth. Returns quarter 3 is July-Sept. The Returns Volume No 11 and Returns Page No   521 are the same for both girls. Unfortunately death records from Irish Genealogy only go back currently to 1878 but earlier records will hopefully be put on in due course.

Names   SUSAN MCATEER, BRIDGET MCATEER
Date of Death   1877
SR District/Reg Area   Newry
Deceased Age at Death   0
Returns Year 1877, Returns Quarter 3
Returns Volume No 11, Returns Page No 521

Thank you very much for the response  :)  I think I’m getting stuck because of the limited amount of information available on individuals born prior to 1820.

I appreciate the info you posted.

Hi Brendan. Wow, so many years later!  I have been away from genealogy for a few years but got email of your post here.   John Patrick McAteer born in Armagh was your grand father? Or his son of the same name born in Canada was your grand father?  I think I have come across a Ronald  (in Canada) but just need some clarification.    I can’t remember if I got any further on Barnard.  I will have a look.

Feel free to private message me.
