There is a marriage on the IGI which took place at St Edmunds, Exeter, 18 Jul 1824 between Thomas BERRY and Mary Ann Adams LARWILL.
If you obtain the birth certificate for Harriet BERRY (June qtr 1840 Exeter vol 10 page 98) it will confirm her mother's maiden name.
According to the 1861 census, Thomas had died and Mary Ann (mother) 52 born Teignmouth, Harriett aged 20 born Exeter, and a brother Edwin 18 born Exeter are all living with an Elizabeth COX 36 b. Newton and her husband Thomas & Children. Mary Ann is described as Mother in Law, so presumably Elizabeth is her daughter.
(RG9/1398 Place: St David -Devon Enumeration District: 11 Civil Parish: St Olave, Exeter Folio: 116 Page: 1 Schedule: 1 Address: Friernhay St)
The 1851 census gives Newton Abbot as the birthplace of both Mary Ann (mother) and Plymouth for daughter Mary Ann.

Hi Merlot, have you found any more information on Mary Ann Adams Larwill who married Thomas Berry. She is my 3rd great grandmother. Her daughter Maria Berry married Richard Stone and they came to Australia in the 1850's. Struggling to find who were her parents. Perhaps George and Elizabeth Larwill but not sure. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers Ann

Hi Ann,  I have found Mary Ann Adams Larwill was the daughter of George Larwill and Elizabeth Adams.  Elizabeth born in Tullamore Ireland.
1851-1861 England Census shows George & Elizabeth living at East Teignmouth, George was a Mariner.  Hope this helps Merlot.

Thanks Merlot. Why do you think George and Elizabeth were her parents. I have them down as Mary Ann's parents on my tree on ancestry.com.au but I really have no evidence that they were. Do you have a marriage certificate for George and Elizabeth or a birth certificate for Mary Ann? Any evidence. Would be great if you have.
The reason I thought they could be was that Mary Ann's younger sister Harriet married William Strowbridge and he lived with George and Elizabeth in either the 1851 or 1861 census. So I figured they knew each other (George, Elizabeth and Mary Ann).
How are you related to Mary Ann Adams Larwill? Thanks for responding so quickly.
