The Stewards of Barton Mills

Hi all,

I am stuck researching this line at Jane Steward who was born around 1635 and married Sir William Cooke.

I believe her father to be William Steward and although there are references on the internet to other Steward of Barton Mills around this time I can see to link them all in together.

The Suffolk Burial Index records several STEWART burials in Barton Mills, St Mary  in the late 1600's none of them a William unfortunately:

Edward 16 Mar 1677 (Mr, elder)
Robert 10 Jul 1672 (Sir, kt, one of the masters of the Chancery)
Thomas 7 Sep 1677 (esq)

Edward is the earliest Stewart burial recorded on the Index in Barton Mills.  No Steward burials in that parish.

Thanks keziah, I have those recorded along with a Susan Steward on Nov 16, 1684.

I think I have made a breakthrough in tracing that family line further back but don't know to much about William or his siblings.

Thomas Stewart 13 Jul 1681 son of Mr Edward
Mary Cousins Stewart daug of Mr Edward

& that is all 6 that are recorded in Barton Mills on the SBI.
