THanks to Jon Beard and his Beards of Essex website I can trace my lineage back to 1712 - John Beard of Roxwell who married Mary Attridge in Good Easter on 10 Nov 1731.
Can anyone suggest where I might get some earlier info ????

You could subscribe to Essex Ancestors (various subs) and search early parish registers.
