Is there anyway to see...any index for example.... if a man was in the Royal Navy between 1890 and 1935?

Also if awarded any medals then Ancestry has Naval medal rolls up to 1973 but you would need a record to get any personal info.

Thanks for your effort. I could not find him on any armed forces list from 1890-1930. So he probably wasn't there. I was a shot in the dark.

This guy is Mr. Invisible Frustration. There in 1881 at school and dead in 1937. No where else can I find him. William Horace Wickens, b. 1869 in Kingston; schooled in Southampton; Dead in Wokinham.

This I do know from a childhood conversation: "He lived in England."

Did he have a mum called Ruth? married Margaret Graham in Southampton?

If so theres an Army record for a William Wickens on Ancestry served India and South Africa

No, it's Elizabeth, married across from Waterloo Station in St. Johns. She. too, her first 20 years [I have the marriage certifiate], is the other mystery in this family.
Many thanks for your effort.
