Theophilus Jones History of Brecknockshire
« on: Wednesday 21 March 12 13:59 GMT (UK) »
I have a photocopied pedigree which, at the top under the title - Powell, of Glyntarell, has typed:
(see Jones History of Brecknockshire, Vol.2, p. 687 (undescipherable).
Now I've found a copy of the book on the net which has been scanned but it only goes to page 257, then it's the index?
The pencil I could understand referring to a different book but the typed reference clearly refers to Joness' book.

Does anyone have any ideas on where I can go from here - ideally does anyone have access to a copy that has pages 687, 699 and 717 in it!!

According to http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/wal/BRE/#History  Theophilus Jones's History of the County of Brecknock is in 4 vols. 1909, 1911, 1930 perhaps the volume number is wrong.

maybe satnmapstone - hadn't thought of that I must say.
I've searched through vols 1 and 2 - they were the only ones I found scanned online.

Does anybody have all volumes or access to all volumes of this?
I have a printed pedigree, of Powell of Glyntarell, and under the header it has:
(see Jones History of Brecknockshire, Vol.2 p. 687)
also, written in pencil next to that it has written:
also 699 also 717 as to connection with (indescipherable)
However the online scan I found only goes to page 257 then it apperas to be index pages, however I have seen notes that it may have been published in two parts (fingers crossed).
If anyone does have access and could scan/photograph/transcribe those pages I would be very grateful.

The surnames I have on my printed pedigree are:
Powell - Vaugan - Davies - Protheroe - Symonds - Crummer - Lewis
I am particularly interested in Davies - Powell - Vaughan.

Many thanks

Theophilus Jones published his History in two volumes in 1805 and 1809.  It was republished with enlarged notes by Sir Joseph Russell Bailey from 1909, known as the Glanusk Editions.

However, this is page 687 of Volume 2 Part 2 of Theo Jones' original edition:

You are an absolute star!!
That takes the Powells back further than my pedigree goes, hopefully the other pages will shed a bit more light.

Thank you.
