Lavery/Kilrush
« on: Monday 16 May 05 23:06 BST (UK) »
My 3g-grandmother, Mary Lavery, was born at Kilrush c1821.  She married Thomas Thompson of the Royal Marine Artillery c1843-1844, and returned with him to England.  Their first child, Mary, was born at Tarbert c1844.

Any thoughts or info. about Mary and how I might find out more about her would be welcome - I have been searching on the available internet resources.

Many thanks!

Hello Michel

No families by the name of Lavery appear in Griffiths Valuations for Co. Clare (1848 - 1864). I suggest trying the Library as it is possible that the Lavery family may appear in one of the early directories such as Pigots.

Hi Christopher - Many thanks for your suggestions!  Lavery seems to be more common in the north, but rare indeed in Clare.

I will follow-up your ideas and see what I can find...

Regards,

Nick
