William Callister born c1856
« on: Saturday 24 March 12 15:57 GMT (UK) »
In August 1880 William Callister married Ann Milner in Ulverston.

He was a  Miner who's father was Thomas Callister a farmer.

The 1881 census shows him in dalton-in-furness with wife Hannah (Ann) and his place of birth as Isle of Man.

I am looking for details of his family on the Isle of Man.

Is it possible that Thomas and Esther divorced, On William's marriage certificate on 14th August 1880 Thomas was named and not noted as deceased.

Divorce was very expensive then and not that common. Do you mean he was named as father, but it didn't say deceased? That often happened as the person filling in the certificate only wrote what he was told. I have several where I am 100% certain that the father has died, but it doesn't say so on the certificate. I also have some where it says dead on one and then doesn't say it on a later one.
