Well, only marriage I can see in South Australia is for the son....

Harold Victor MERLINO aged 21 and single married Amelia May BEHENNA aged 18 and single on 22nd February 1930 at the Methodist Church, Crystal Brook.
Fathers = Robert MERLINO & Ernest Isaac BEHENNA
Ref = Cla 322/495

No marriage in Victoria either.

I suspect they weren't married as per the thread you posted, Jamjar.

Thanks very much everyone, I really appreciate your efforts. I was confused about Elena today, but am
becoming convinced she took the Merlino name as did her mother, Emma.

Thanks also jamjar - I'll definitely follow up on your link to the person who's also looking at this family.

Really appreciate everything,

Kind regards

Thanks again everyone... I'm now wondering what became of Emma Mary Angelina MERLINO B. 1905 - can't find any further mention of her anywhere and she's not included in the obituary for Bartholomew Merlino.

Thanks Cando for the link to the Obituary - as I posted above, no mention of Emme Mary Angelina Merlino. I wonder if she died at a young age.

I'm also wondering if the Robert mentioned could be the Demetrio who was born in Sydney in 1904? No mention of a Demetrio otherwise though.

I can find a death for a Robert Merlino in SA in 1975 (Adelaide).

Cheers

Hi there,

Sands 1890 Sydney Dir
Demetrio DELUNGO, fruiterer, 109 George St West.
(George St west is now known as Broadway)

Cannot find James Marriot/t in that Directory, but there’s Harry, a compositor;  Charles, an importer; Henry; John, an upholsterer; Samuel, a carpenter; and William listed in that Sands Directory.

Sands 1900
James Marriott, Ryde Rd, Hunter’s Hill
James Marriott, 68 John St (Sydney CBD)

Sands Suburban 1892 Directory shows that the Municipality of Granville, including Clyde) covered about 838 houses, and the local Registrar of Births, Marriages and Deaths was John Rayner.  I have checked the listings and I have not found any entry for the surname MARRIOTT (or variations) for Granville in the 1892 directory.  I should add that the closing date for publication purposes was around the end of Oct 1891.   I wonder if James and Emma boarded at Granville, or perhaps the NSW BDM district of Granville covered a larger district than just the Municipality?  (The NSW BDM districts were often larger than just one local government area)   (see reply # 3)

Cheers,  JM

Hi.
I just signed up here and hope I do this right. Elena Merlinos husband Trygve Olsen was my grandfather's brother. They were from Oslo, Norway. Trygve  died in 1922.
According to a Norwegian genealogist Elena married again in 1930. See attachment. If he's right, Elenas name was Eleanor. (Trygve  was called Tom in Australia, so why not..)

I myself have been struggling to find the full names on T og Es 3 children.
