Cant read the first name Help please
« on: Tuesday 27 March 12 21:43 BST (UK) »
Hello,
Can anyone decipher what this first name is, the surname is smallpage but i just cant make out the first name.
I am looking at the first marriage on this cert.
Sofar I have a Frances Smallpage (could be a male or female)and a Samuel from the bonds and allegations but this is a different name, trying to go back further.

Kind Regards
Jo

The bride is Ann Smallpage and one of the witnesses is Frances Smallpage. Is it the other Smallpage witness whose name you are trying to decipher?

Not sure which name you're having problems with but I can see Ann Smallpage as the bride and Frances Smallpage as a witness.

Normally (tho not always) Frances with an e is a female name.

Hope that helps  :)

Thank you all for your replies it is the name next to Frances I cant make out, there are a few options ie Tom, Sam, Ian, but i would really like to be certain what it is.
As there is Samuel on the Allegations i wondered if he just signed it SAm Smallpage?
The Glovers were cousins of Small/Jacksons, so need to find where and how Eliza fits in ?

Regards
Joanne

Did they name any of their children Frances,or John/Tom?

You usually get names of siblings or parents re-occuring in families back then.
