Hi all,
I'm just following up on some info. we have gathered from the 1841 census for Kerrier, Cornwall
concerning James Gill and his family. His wife was named Mary and they were both born in Cornwall together with two of their children aged 4 & 1. However, three other children are listed as being born "Outside Census County 1841" and possibly the 4th.
Looking at the 1851 census two of the three children are listed as born in Guernsey; John Gill 18, Painter (Appr) and Mary M Gill 15 Tailoress (appr). The 3rd one was James (the son) aged about 11 in the 1841 census is missing and he doesn't show up in 1851.
Unfortunately, James the father , was deceased before the 1851 census was taken as Mary is shown as a Widow.
Would anyone be able to locate the births/bapts of these four "Gill" children;
James born abt 1830
John " " 1832
Margaret " " 1835
Catherine " " 1837/9
I have added Catherine Gill as it now looks as she may also have been born in Guernsey - She was not registered in Helston (Cornwall) despite the 1851 census saying thats her place of birth
