Troop transport to UK
« on: Monday 02 April 12 16:28 BST (UK) »
Looking for info on how troops were transported to UK June 25 1944 from Camp Borden Ontario. Which ships , where did they land in UK and what base did they go to?

For security reasons Troopship movements are very difficult to research. Can you give the name of the regiment/s/units you are interested in. Was 25/June/the day the vessel sailed?
See http://www.ww2troopships.com/ mainly US troop movements but you may get lucky.

I tried the ww2troop page but no luck. He was with CACRU and embarkation date was June 25 1944. He was at Camp Borden Ontario Canada and then sailed to the UK. His records are not very clear where he disembarked and what base he went to. Thanks for your help.

The only contender I can find is the Dutch vessel NEIUW AMSTERDAM.
She sailed from Halifax NS with 7713 troops on 26th June 1944 the only ship in convoy AT 127. She sailed without escort and relied on her speed to avoid U Boat attack. She arrived in Greenock 2 July 1944.
