Mike, let us know when you're coming over and we could all meet for a pint 8)

But don't bother looking for the house names - as I've already said, these houses no longer show their old names.

Carol,

Sounds a good idea - will let you know when we will in Felixstowe.

I am aware from earlier posts that the house will not be named - but the position should not have changed - i think it is too far in from the sea to have suffered coastal erosion !

Best wishes
Mike

Hi all, I happened upon this chat whilst looking up further old photos online. I live at what was Neuheim. Do you still need any info?

Hi,

That was an unexpected reply from the past!. I am ashamed to say that I have still not managed to visit Felixstowe. I am not sure how long Elisabeth Jutson remained in Felixstowe - by 1939 she was running a boarding house in Hastings and in 1939 the houses in Queens Road were known by numbers. It is good to know that the house is still occupied.

Kind regards
Mike

This advertisement from 1914 may be of interest.

I see no sign of the school or Mrs Jutson in later directories.

A Miss Salter appears to have been at the house in 1938 but it was unoccupied in 1939.

Thank you for that David. An impressive looking house - looks ideal for a small school.

I am looking at Elizabeth Jutland's life afresh. She died in Hastings in 1947.
In 1901 she was running a different School from Brook House, Cumberland Street Woodbridge.

I live in Felixstowe, Looking at the picture, I would say that house is on the crossroad junction of Queen's Road and Orwell Road.

It's still there, on the south-west corner of Queen's Road and Orwell Road, opposite the Brook Hotel.

Thanks for the validation johnboy :D
