Look up please - Sculcoates, Yorkshire

hello.      I am researching in to the Fosters in Sculcoates early 1800's.  How do I do this?   my parents still live in Hull so I can easily go and look at things - but where do I find births, deaths, marriages etc?    thank you.

I have split this off from the old thread as it is a new enquiry.   Parish records are the main source of information at that time.
www.familysearch.org is a good place to start and when you are in Hull you can go to the local record office
http://www.ancestor-search.info/CRO-Yorkshire-East.htm
and either look at the registers on film or fiche or they may well have transcripts.
This is a useful online site too.

thankyou.  I am looking for parents and siblings of George Foster , b.1816 Hull who married Janet Kennedy b 1824 Sculcoates.  He was living with her bythe 1841 census. Incidentally this family then lived for 5 decades at 12 Prince St . ..   however, I am trying to find out his siblings.  His mother was called Ann b. 1794 and she lived with him in 1861 census.  He is my great great grandfather.   He was a butcher.

it could be?    and he has moved out by now, but if he was the eldest son who had moved out, would be be called George.   Would he not be called John after his father? but there is another John, so maybe the first John died and George was son number 2 . .. . . .     mmmm

had a look at the Sculcoates BD & M and there are no entries at all for George Foster or his family up to 1837, Most of the entries on the census are from Holy Trinity and not ,,Sculcoates. 
If the entry for the 1841 John & Anne are yours, you canl find them on the LDS web site, children christened in Drypool Hull.
I could not find them living in Prince St and wondered if you could give us anymore details, census etc or how you found thet where in Sculcoates.

in 1841 George (b 1816) and his new wife janet Kennedy, are living in Hatters square.  in 1851 they are living in Posterngate and George i s a butcher. by 1861 he has moved to 12 Prince St where his aged mother Ann Foster, is living with them.  generally the census records say they were both bortn in Hull, but one, 1851 I think, says janet was born in Sculcoates and George in Hull, so it could well be Holy Trinity, sorry.   given that he lived in Posterngate and Prince St, this would suggest he was born round Holy Trinity.
