Norman, re your reply #17 that Susan was the wife of the late Joe and family stories have you believing he died in the 1980s, possibility the referrence I mentioned in my reply #7 may be him ? the birth year is 1923 with second name Joseph but Joseph may have only been his preferred and commonly used name, there's also a third name... does the name Gemmell fit anywhere in the family tree?

You could email the FD and ask if they can give you any info on Joseph, they should have it on file as in NZ the FD files the info for the registration of death

As Susan was cremated..there may not be a "burial place"
again as Janette mentions the Funeral Director would know whether an immediate interment took place or if ashes were returned to rellies

Bye

Do you have an address for 1981 census and what would be the nearest cemetery.

Unfortunately for family history, NZ census records are not researchable as not archived ... addresses are searched on Electoral rolls and in various directories, eg White Pages.

As only an occasional visitor to Wellington, I don't have much local knowledge but the biggest cemetery there is Karori. The link given for FD may be worth persuing...
