Parents of Howell Lewis

Having trouble finding the parents of Howell Lewis , 1881 census finds him living with his Grandmother at age 17.
And 1871 living with a aunt. Cannot find any mention of parents names, cannot even find his birth registered.
Any surgestions?

1881 census says he was in Tirbach,Ystradfellte with his granmother Gwenillian . The 1871 says he was living with his Aunt Anne Benjamin.  1891 still living with his grandmother  occupation Coal Miner.

I am building a record of your kin to solve the issue problem.  Just a thought Ystradfellte civil registrations tend to be in the Neath, Glam., district rather than in the expected Brecon one.

Howell only s/o Howell & Hannah Lewis, gd. son of Benjamins.  M.Is. at Hermon, Ystrafedllte & Tynycoed(Ystradgynlais).

Interestingly Howell and Hannah appear to be alive and well and living on 112 acres in Ystradgynlais in 1881, so not sure why Howell is staying with Granny.

More interestingly, this Howell is with his father in 1861, who says he is a widower, so how is gwenllian his Lewis  grandmother?

There's a Gwenllian the right age around, but with husband William and no children in 1861?
