Ancestry. I am trying to invite someone to see one of my trees.
« on: Thursday 05 April 12 16:40 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I have invited  someone to see my tree on Ancestry.  They tell me that they needed a password?  Is this correct and how do I find the list of who has access to my trees.  I can only get as far as inviting - not able to see who else I have invited.  Can anyone help, please?

Thanks Marie,
I have discovered that the invitee needs to make up a user name and will then get access but will not be charged  :) but I still cannot find out how to view my invitees!   ???

On the home page of Ancestry scroll down to where it  says the name of your tree.
To the right of the name is a link that says View this Tree. Click on this.

When a new page opens look for the name of your tree at the top of the page. Next to it is a link with a drop down menu called Tree Pages.
Click on the link called Tree Overview.
Bottom right of the new page that opens is a list of all those invited to your tree.
Above the list is a link called Manage Invitees.

Hi,
Thank you but I have done all that - it will only show me how to invite!  It will not take me to view those I have already invited.
maybe it is me so I'll try again tomorrow.
Cheers,

They need to click on the link that they get from the email from Ancestry.  Because this email comes direct from Ancestry.com and not from you, the invitations can sometimes get trapped by 'spam' checkers.  Tell your friends to look in their 'spam' folders for the invitation.  They can't just log in without clicking on that link in the Ancestry email.  Once they have followed the link the first time, they can set up their own access.
