Rev William Shortt husband of Mary Amanda Haggerty
« on: Friday 06 April 12 21:39 BST (UK) »
My ancestor William Shortt died on 26/2/1909 and was buried in Brockville, Leeds, Ontario.  He was a protestant.  I would be most appreciative if anyone was near there to have a photo of his grave for my records.

Kind regards,

Sue McCall

Sue,

There is a Rev Wm Short interred in nearby Kingston at the Cataraqui Cemetery (Sections I,J,K). I do not see a Rev Wm Shortt n Brockville or anywhere.  http://ocfa.islandnet.com/ocfa-search.php

If no one else can help Brockville falls into http://www.leedsandgrenvillegenealogy.com branch of the OGS I would suggest you send them an email and the library http://www.brockvillelibrary.ca perhaps his obit would indicate where he was buried.

The Kingston Branch of the OGS is here http://www.ogs.on.ca/kingston/index.php the city's library is here http://www.kfpl.ca

Thank you for your help.  I am thinking the other William K. Shortt is a cousin but his dates don't match mine.

Hi Sue,

Was Jonathan a minister too?  The Digital Kingston site has several references to a Rev Jonathan Shortt - and several other Shortts who may also be related.

Hi again,

I see a record for the other Rev William Shortt (initials W.K) on the familysearch site.  He died Jan 31 1923 in Kingston.  He was 81.   That is the man in the Cataraqui Cemetery in Kingston.

The death records for both of the William Shortts are on the familysearch site.  If you think William K could be a cousin - he was born in Dublin to William Shortt and Matilda Stevenson.

As yours is the Brockville one, here are some old photos of Brockville Churches:

Thank you for your help :)  No his father wasn't a minister, he was an attorney from Dublin.  I have found lots of information regarding the Jonathan Shortt you refer to, and I am sure he is also connected to the same family but it is so challenging to find the connection!!
