Inquest Help - Robert Alfred Stanton July 1931 New Zealand COMPLETED

Hello, thanks to some great support from Lu (Lucy2) in rootschat I have now found out what happened to my relative.

I'm now wondering if some one has access to the NZSG ? Index (or similar) and could help.

The discovery is that my relative Robert Alfred Stanton had fallen under a train, the link below take you to the original news paper report.

I'm wondering if there is an Inquest document that some one can access.

Hi Rob,

The only reference I could see on Papers Past was his funeral notice in the Evening Post of 28 July 1931.

But if he died in Wellington his inquest file should be held at Archives NZ's Wellington office. I'll see what I can find.

Is anyone able to post a link to the original newspaper report describing the events which resulted in his death? This would help narrow the search.

They got the name slightly wrong. - the E should have been an A

The only information on there is the NZSG Probate Index, the same that is held at Wellington Archives.

Thanks for the link to the article. Posting links is not a breach of copywrite.

I checked the Archives New Zealand Research Guide dealing with Personal Identity which indicates that if a Coroners Inquest file exists it will be on microfiche at their Wellington office. I'll have a look for it.

That would be great - anything you can find.

I'm not sure if he got married or had any family - so it would all be interesting.
