What is an "Able Mauir"?
« on: Tuesday 10 April 12 09:00 BST (UK) »
I have just looked at a census form in which one of the relatives is listed as having an occupation "When Able Mauir".  What does this mean?  Grateful for any suggestions.
Thank you

Are you looking at the original, or a transcription?  It might be a mis-reading of the original...

My interpretation, without seeing the original, is that "when able", the person is a "mauir" (whether that is a real word or a mis-reading).
