I am trying to find any information in regard to William Ellison who was born on the 25.10.1831 at Enniskillen, son of Laurence & Judith Ellison who originally came from Ancoats, Lancashire England. Birth certificate indicated that William was baptised on the 20th November, 1831.
William's Father, Laurence was a Private in the 59th Regiment of Foot, being stationed there, presumably on Garrison duties.
After his birth, we have been unable to find what happened to William, whether he eventually returned to England, or maybe he died. After the Ireland posting the family moved to Portsmouth, Hampshire, where Judith Ellison had another child named Maria Ellison b. 1836. By 1841, Judith is shown in the census as living in a Poorhouse, her husband Laurence Ellison was by then a Private in the West Indies. No sign of any children around in the 1841 census, so maybe they went to the Poorhouse somewhere else
