I have ordered a certificate but it is going to take a while to arrive. I might see if I can find someone to do a lookup also. Thanks for that.

Hi all I have received the marriage certificate for Charles and Mary but both fathers and occupations have been left blank. Is there a plan B, is there an alternative way of finding Charles father?

Pity the GRO copy of the M cert gave no fathers names or father's occupations, the probability is that both fathers were deceased.  Two further options are to see if you can find the fathers name connected to the marriage of a known sibling (even though there will be a substantial time gap) and as suggested, to enlist the help of someone on the Kent side of Rootschat to look up the parish registers of St Mary the Virgin with the date you have to see if those records contain more info.  The names of any witnesses for example might assist.     Roy G

Hi Roy G thanks for the reply. I posted a request under Kent a month ago but have had no reply. Whats the probability of details being on the marriage certificate of Charles first marriage in 1811 at Broadstairs Thanet Kent?
