Creative Searching...
« on: Wednesday 18 May 05 09:38 BST (UK) »
For the last few days, I've been trying to locate Mary Thomas, b. Glan Conway, Denbighshire, and her son Arthur, b. Salford, Lancashire (according to the 1901 census) in 1891, to find out who her husband was.  I finally located her, after some very imaginative searching....

Thomas, John abt 1859 llanddainiolm, Cameroon Head  Salford  Lancashire
Thomas, Mary abt 1859 gilan canway, Derbyshire Wife  Salford  Lancashire
Thomas, Arthur abt 1886 gilan canway, Derbyshire Son  Salford  Lancashire

Why did I say I'd help my cousins find their Welsh roots???   ??? ::) :P

MR

PS  If anyone knows anything about a Hughes family from Llansaintffraid Glan Conway.....   8)

Ah, another example of the dialectal joys of the spoken word Manchester Rambler.  Well done you!

I was looking for a William Hares from Shipham, Somerset.  Out of sheer frustration I ended up looking for all Williams born Shipham of abt the right age - lucky he was old...

I found him living in Cardiff enumerated as William Ayres!!

At least as a Somerset girl living in South Wales I can understand that one  ;D

Not come across a Hughes yet, but I can maybe help with Williams and Jones.

Seriously though, I have the contact details of the sexton for St. Mary's in Llansanffraid. He's most helpful and a wealth of local info. If you want his contact details, send me a PM and I'll pass them on.
