I have a feeling, rumney, that the name is Prytherch.

The could be variations of Rhytherch/Rhutherch/Prydderch/Prytherch. This name is frequent in Llanfairarybryn-adjoins Llywel but in another county.
One Prydd/therch family in Llywel is that of Rees Prytherch 1781-1862.

hi garfydd and gs
this is just a chain im looking at

1841 census   trecastle

morgan davies born 1811 age 30             head
mary      davies         1816 age 25             wife
rees                           1840 age 1               son

underneath them is transcribed as margt protheroe

as the 41 census give little info its the 1851 that joins them

1851  census

morgan      age 42       head
mary           age 38      wife
rees            age 11      son       next census page carries on
susan          age 9        dght
margt           age 4        dght
evan            age 7 months
under these as mother   is margt  paytharch  age 65   born 1786

sorry i use ancestry for census pages but not all them give me page details  and numbers, dont know why

also as i said to gs have now received a copy of roots and branches
by t evan and looking through the index there is a name  Daniel prydderch
could marg,t paytherch/ protheroe be a miss spelt family name??
       best regards     rumneywoodchipy

Either Margaret was Unmarried when Morgan was born or Widowed later. Either way by 1820 she Married a Protherch.

Marriage;
08 September 1820, Llywel, Brecon, Wales
Margaret DAVIES
John PROTHERCH
(Source Wales Marriages on Familysearch.Org)

Now strangely on FreeREG he is down as JAMES Protherch

For the Mary Prytherch you found Llywel 1851, the census should give her relationship to Morgan Davies. How do know the relevance of Prytherch?
You need to go back in time systematically.
Your grand mother(?) do have her birth certificate, which will give her father's name & her mother's maiden name-unless she be illegitimate? You can buy the certificate for£9(I think) at the register office where her birth was registered. Do you know where she was born? Are you are sure she be your grandmother? If you get the right birth certificate you will have the names of her father & mother, his occupation, location and her maiden name. You can then proceed backwards in time. I must apologise if you know all this.

hi garfydd
  hope your well
when i searched the records in llandrindod  i brought back quite a few pages, of certain families of llywell, some are not my ancesters, the prytherch family isn,t my family ,i was just familiarizing myself with families of the same name,
 it helps with further research,,
i have a line back from my grandmother florence grace davies born brecon 1902,  father william davies tailor of llywell, who i now believed originated from canolmaes his father rees, i have this morning recieved the marriage cert of william davies  ann davies april 25th 1879
william age 21 lived at canolmaes
ann age 21 lived at   three horse shoes     which i suppose is another house ,possable trecastle
william,s father rees davies is a farmer
ann,s father rees davies is a labourer

also recieved the birth cert of william   18th october 1858  llywell
father rees davies,   mother ann davies formerly price
 best regards rumney
thanks for all this help, its a very hard family tree
ps the cost of birth/marriage cert has now gone up to £10 each from april  boo hoo :'(
