When did all this happen?

The 'consideration' might have either been what we now term an option price,
or it may have been the deposit for the sale.
Seems a high amount just for drawing up a document, unless it was fairly recent, but if he was 3 generations ago, presumably it was a fair while ago??

i'm guessing it was the amount wanted for the property

The 'consideration' was the sum of money to be paid for the property.
