Hi all, to assist hopefully this forms part of another thread by Marie, the William in question was b 1902/3 in Notting Hill London, it is possible he was accompanied by either a Poole or Penny family, his aunt Mary Penny and family were in Canada by 1913.

Maroldme, in future if you have a thread about a person please post a link to it when you start a new thread about the same person in order to avoid duplication of efforts.

There is a William Hitchings on the Lake Manitoba which arrived in Quebec on 12 Sep 1911. His destination was Foxwarren, Manitoba. Here is a link to this William in the Home Child database at Library and Archives Canada:

and here's a link to the passenger list image (he's on about line 23):

Isaac and Mary Penny and family arrived in Canada on the Corsican 09 Jun 1913. They were bound for Saskatchewan. Prior censuses should be checked for this family. Isaac was b. 1878.

Maroldme, I am sending you a PM.

Hi Jacquie in Canada: Thanks a bunch for the info. Sorry I'm new at using this web site. I don't know how
to post a link to a new thread about the same person. Will  look it  up in the help section. I understand that
by doing this link it would avoid people sending me info that I already know...Thanks again...Marie

Ok, so maroldme knows where William was in 1911 in the UK, who he was with, and that he was b. Notting Hill, London.

Food for thought ...

I suspect William is the child who arrived in Canada in Sept 1911 (mentioned above) as part of the party of Mrs Joyce. I suspect he may have been part of this group by way of  escorting him to Canada as he appears to have travelled on his own given Samuel Poole was already in Canada and the Penny's hadn't arrived yet. His destination of Foxwarren, Manitoba appears to be very close to where Samuel Poole and his family are located in the 1911 census. Foxwarren would probably have been a small town out in the middle of nowhere but the train may have stopped there. So, food for thought.

Samuel's brother Thomas and family arrived in early 1911  to join his brother, also with destination Foxwarren MB. William doesn't appear to be with them either.
