Hi,
how do i find the maiden name of my 'maternal' great-great-grandmother?

She was born in Pilsford, Northants, (think this must be Pitsford??) in 1863, (I have Kileley as her maiden name from the marriage cert of my great-grandmother but this cannot be correct??). It appears that she could neither read nor write so am assuming the person who transcribed her name on the cert has
mis-heard & mis-spelt it?

Harriet married Thomas Pick of Grantham Lincs, around1880??? Not sure if they married in Northants or Grantham. They certainly lived in Spittlegate, Grantham at the time of the 1881 census. They had a girl aged 3-months called Morice by this time.

I cannot seem to find anything more about her, could you please offer any advice as to how I investigate this??

I'm only new to this but advice I received may help,  if they had a daughter Morice, then the mothers maiden name should be on her  birth certificate? hope it helps, I've just checked all the birth certs I have and they do have the mothers maiden name but I haven't any really early ones.

Hi just checked on freebmd and Morice Jane PICK was registered in Dec qtr 1880 at Grantham 7a 473. With this info you can order the certificate to confirm. This all ties in with the earlier record I sent you.
