Hi Margp,

that's the one - I have been helping Stockton with this.

Margaret gives Middlesborough as her place of birth in all censuses.
Family believe she was born Dublin and in 1881 there is a Margaret born Dublin in Middlesborough area.

The family you found is worth looking at - I am sad to say I had mentioned them but wondered about the places of birth.

I am sure Stockton will look at this more closely.

There is a Margaret Murphy marriage to John Sheehan in 1889 but I can't see them in 1891 to check

:) Hi all, sorry for delay getting back and thanking you all, Heywood has been my guardian angel with my maternal great grandparents Margaret & William McIntosh, for well over 2 years led to believe another couple same names mine, thanks to Stanmapstone, who pointed me in right direction, and Heywood's advice all became very very clear, not to clever with ancestory and has Heywood knows with me it take awhile for the penny to drop, so if you kind folks will keep me right will get there in the end i'm sure ;) with my maternal great grandmother being very old at the time she went into the Little Sisters, and now knowing she was a little senile Pirtle could be any one of the names mentioned.
Would like to thank you all again for help :) all the very best Derek :) :D ;)

Hi,

From your earlier research it looks like you have already found Margaret MACINTOSH nee MURPHY in the census, can I just confirm that this is her,

1891 RG12/4049  f.58  p.21    Stockton on Tees,  Durham
Margaret MACINTOSH    age: 26    born: Middlesbrough

1901  RG13/4626  f.108  p.2    Stockton on Tees,  Durham
Margaret MCINTOSH    age: 37    born: Middlesbrough

Stockton on Tees, Durham
Margaret MCINTOSH    age: 49    born:  Middlesbrough

If so then it looks like she could possibly have been born later than 1861, she seems to get older on each census, usually it's younger ;D

As she always gives her POB as Middlesbrough and looking where she lives after being married I wonder if this could be Margaret in 1881,

1881  RG11/4895  f.24  p.42  Stockton, Durham
Cherry Lane

Margaret MURPHY    Lodger    Unm    17    Domestic Servant    Yorks Middlesbrough

I can only find the above Margaret MURPHY born Middlesbrough in 1881, Middlesbrough registration district wasn't created until 1875  http://www.ukbmd.org.uk/genuki/reg/districts/middlesbrough.html  so I think this could be her birth registration.

Margaret MURPHY   Jul-Aug-Sep Q 1863    Stockton    10a  27

You mention in another post that you have Margaret's birthday as 23 June 1861, this could be the right quarter for her registration as there was 42 days to register a birth. I realise the year is wrong but I've often found people whose year of birth can change but the day and month of their birthday are always right.

Regards,
Daisy

:) Hi Daisy, Cherry lane was in the old part of Stockton on Tees, i hope Heywood's looking at dates, i do find dates and ages a little confusing but think you have the right Margaret Murphy, nice to think she lived in Cherry lane as that same area my early Casey family lived from 1862 onwards ;)
apart from her birth which always states Middlesbrough my late mother was convinced Margaret was from Dublin, its been said to me before she might have thought her self irish because of her parents, the story we were always told by mam and her brothers and sisters was Granny McIntosh always promised to take her grandchildren to Dublin to show them were she was born, we know for a fact where she was when she died, the day and the year, the mysteries around Margaret Murphy McIntosh seem to want to go on a little longer but iv'e learnt more about her in the last two weeks than ever before, but its down to folks like your self :) who have opened the doors to her, a debt i cant pay back, thanks again one and all ;) all the best Derek :) :D ;)

Hi Stockton, have you discounted this one, I believe you were after a Margaret Murphy with parents Micheal and Jane with an Irish connection
