Putting Hearth tax into the Liverpool Record Office Catalogue produced one hit - that of the 1662 Hearth tax of the West Derby Hundren including Liverpool.

At the National Archives they are the original records - they are not transcribed You a get a roll of vellum for the West Derby Hundred and then have to turn the leaves of vellum to find the part you want. Absolutely fascinating to work with.

Thanks for that.  I love working with such original documents, but sadly am no longer able to  get to London and will have to miss out on that particular pleasure.  I shall have to save up so that I can ask a researcher to take a look for me.
