You're welcome!   :D

It's an excellent resource, and NLW are currently digitising other documents, including newspapers, so watch their website!

Hi again :D, just wanted to say a big thank you to all that have offered advice. I think sometimes I need to accept that you can't always track someone down :'(, Perhaps he would have wanted it this way ;D. Maybe he never went to the states at all- maybe he changed his name and went and lived up the valleys!! :o.
Are there any on line records that I could look up myself concerning the sale of the farm?. Maybe then I'll know when that went ( they were still there in 1872 ) and some more facts hopefully ::).
Hope your not getting too fed up with me. Thanks again :)

I'm not sure you'll find info online. You could ask the record office in Cardiff if they have anything

http://www.glamarchives.gov.uk/

I'd imagine it might have made the local papers, so you could try here

https://secure.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk/account/register

It was certainly possible to disppear without trace at that time. I''ve lost a greatgrandfather later than that & frankly I don't believe the family story of his death, there's no death reg for a start. Do I trust the memory of someone who was 4 at the time?
Well, no!

Hi, I tried the castle garden site but couldn't find him. I'm saving all these sites though as they are all so great and I never knew about most of them. It's strange I lived in Radyr ( The Green) for almost a year when I went to college in Cardiff in '82. Never thought for one minute it would take up so much of my time now I'm older!.
By the way, I paid for the wills so I could down load them, print them off and spend ages trying to read them ;D. It only cost £3.50 I think and they were almost instantly forwarded. Great service.
I will recommend this site to anyone. Your all so helpful and know so many helpful hints. Thanks again.
