Hello Geoff,

Thanks.

The one thing to bear in mind is that there may be other children, Mary and Ann included, who were baptised in other parishes in Somerset. It could be that these records are not online and that is why you cannot find these baptisms.

I did try to see if Mary, buried early 1798, could have been baptised as Baker. She was born quite soon after they married. I couldn't find her this way either.

I did do a search on Genes Reunited and there are very many entries for Giblett in Meare on that site. This might be worth a look if you haven't done so already.

Good luck!

Jo.

Hi there

Afraid I can't help as such, but the Meare Parish Records are on this web site

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~colinsgenealogy/Udevsite/index.htm

It may be worth getting in touch with Colin to ask if he can check (if he has the fiche) that both baptisms on the 20 Oct 1811 were to George and Mary, or if there was an error in transcribing. Or a new query on this site asking to check the baptisms, fortunately the Meare Parish Records are easy to read and would be quick to look up as there is an exact date. You could then rule that out.

My husbands direct family line is from Esau Giblett bp Meare 1779 and Hannah Baker who married 22 Oct 1798, so there is a connection generations back.

Good luck

Hi Jo.
Thanks, I will have a look at GenesReunited, I do have a standard sub to this site so here's hoping.
Cheers.
Geoff.

Hi Jo
Thanks for that, I do have a sub to Genes Reunited, lowest level I think, and feel sure that I have explored that site for Anna but will give it another try anyway.
I have been looking for Anna's birth/baptism for several years now and am really beginning to think I am chasing my tail, still, that's just par for the course with this strange obsession we suffer from.
Regards.
Geoff.

Hello Jo.
I've been having some trouble working out how to use this site and have discovered that my acknowledgement to you (two so far) are attached to page 2 which I now realise is for a separate lady, Heather, who offered some advice.
However, thanks for your last message, I do have a sub to GenesReunited, lowest level I think, and feel sure that I have explored that site for Anna but will give it another try any way.

Hello Jo and Heather.
You must be thinking that Kiwilong is a bit soft in the head by now, any how, thanks to you both for all your thoughs and comments.
Regards.
Geoff.
