Emmigration to Philadelphia
« on: Tuesday 24 April 12 10:37 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find the record for Sarah Annie Henderson born Mar 1881 in Malin, N. Ireland arriving in NY 1905.  This date comes from her Petition  for Naturalisation I have searched and cannot find it.
She married in 1908 but under the name Annie Henderson (in Philadelphia) and I can't find her under that name either.
Would be very grateful for another pair of eyes, please.

Thank you very much.  You would think she would remember when she went to America!  And sorry I should have put the link in I meant to but got interrupted.

I have another mystery to do with this family!
I have the 1920 and 1930 censuses and the child Vesta F was born in Ireland I found a birth for her in the Irish Civil Registration Records 1864-1958 and named as Vesta Frances Mary Smith Reg. Oct 1/4 1911.

After her marriage Sarah and St Clair had:
Samuel Boyard St Clair Smith 25 Mar 1909 Wilmington Philadelphia
Vesta Frances Mary 15 Sep 1911 Ireland

Sarah is returning to New York Samuel with Samuel aged 2 and Frances (Vesta?) 2 months. Have no record for their arrival in Ireland.  So it looks as though she returned to N Ireland for a visit.  Highly pregnant and with 2 year old Samuel.

1911
27 Nov
Arrival
New York, New York

And then returned with Samuel and a 2 month old baby.  Two journeys that must have been pretty difficult for her.
I have not found her outgoing voyage it must have been between 1909 and 1911.  It does help to see it written out and I shall search again.

Cheers,
Abiam2

Sandra, Just seen your post - so do we have to guess which is right?  If she arrived in Oct 1907 and married in July 1908 that pretty quick? ???

I am not now sure about Sarah's emigration record.  On her marriage cert her Father's name is John but on the emigration record she names her Father as Robert.  Robert's address is given as Malin, Ireland the same as Sarah's maybe she was nervous on her wedding day's she used her middle name Annie instead of Sarah.  What does anyone think?

Hi there,

I have Sarah Anne Henderson in my family tree. She is the daughter of John Henderson (abt1841 - 1920) and Jane Elizabeth Crowe (abt 1845-1939) of Goorey (just north of Malin). Sarah was the aunt of my grandfather.

I have lots of information on this family including a photo of Sarah.

regards,

Marc
