12 Market Row Gt Yarmouth
« on: Friday 27 April 12 12:27 BST (UK) »
I think this is asking too much of our Rootschatters - but here goes..............................

I have a Charles Lammas (retired seaman) who lived in New Zealand and sailed on the Ballarat for London arriving 21 July 1933.
On the passengers list he gives his intended address (it was only a visit) as 12 Market Row, Great Yarmouth.

Is there any way, anyone can tell me who lived at that address in 1933, Please?

Thank you ...............................

Kind regards

Hello Ohanlon,

Can't give you details of 1933, but in 1927, an E. Duffell, confectioner lived there, and interestingly, in 1938, it is Charles Lummis, also confectioner.

This is a marvellous site for "Old" Great Yarmouth, but it's rather large and may take a while to download (and read through!!)

Thanks Yorkslass,

That clears that up beautifully!

On to another avenue of search.

Very grateful to you.

O'Hanlon.

Should you need to look up an address in the future, some of the Norfolk trade directories can be found online at
http://www.norfolksources.norfolk.gov.uk/DserveNS/

In 1931 and 1932 E Duffell, confectioner was still living at the address as further confirmation of what Yorkslass already found.

It might be worth sending an email to Great Yarmouth Library to see if they'd do a look up of the electoral roll, as you only want one year and you have a specific address.  Of course they'll only be able to tell you who lived at the address who was eligible to vote, but by 1933 that was all adults over the age of 21.
