Hi and welcome to Rootschat  ;D

Do you have her adoption certificate which shows her adoptive parents or her actual birth certificate which shows her birth mother?

If your mother is still alive she can apply to have access to her records

http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Governmentcitizensandrights/Registeringlifeevents/Birthandadoptionrecords/Adoptionrecords/DG_175567

and a link for making contact with birth families

http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Parents/Adoptionfosteringandchildrenincare/AdoptionAndFostering/DG_170308

Rootschat has a 'no living people' policy so all we can do is offer suggestions, not supply contact details.

Thankyou for reply.
I have both adoption papers and birth certificate. I have the name of my mothers birth mother but no fathers name.
I found a thread on here where someone was wanting to start a family tree for their mother in law who had the same name as my mothers birth mother..........not sure what to do??
